Control Your Interview in 4 Simple Steps

January 26th, 2009 · No Comments

Now then, you’ve put forward a quality C.V. and confirming written documents. You’re ahead of the game and have now received a invitation for your interview. What do you do now?

The interview is the most irritating and principal part of job hunting make a decision based on his or her opinion of whether to engage you for their post. You want to do your best in this step because here lies the culmination of all your job hunting efforts. Fluff it here and all your work from application to examinations will go down the drain.

1. Produce a Great Impression
Dress as well as you can afford for your interview. Dress as an employee for the company should. In general, you should dress a little more conservative than you might feel natural dressing in. For guys, wear a dark suit. For ladies, wear a smart and business like suit.

2. Do a Little Research
One of the optimal means to make a good impression on the panel members is to do a little research on the company you are applying for. This will equip you with material to answer many of the questions the interviewer will ask. One of the important points of the questions you will be asked is how your skills can profit the company. If you know a thing or two about the company, you will find it a lot easier to respond to this question. Also, dropping a few meaty choice morsels about how much you know about the position will go a long way in affecting the panel.

3. Watch Your Body Language
Many of the interviewers are knowledgeable in body language, and you will notice that, throughout the interview, they will be looking for hints about your personality from the way you behave, verbalize, and move. It would be abnormal to assume a different set of body language during the interview. So take note of your body language so that at the very least it puts across openness and honesty.

Never lie. Experienced interviewers will notice this in an instant. Try to keep your palms open and avoid crossing your legs or your arms together. Don’t be reluctant to make eye contact while speaking; just make sure that you don’t come across as intimidating.

4. Display Confidence
Walk in with a purpose. Reply with a purpose. Try not to be too self-conscious. Make sure you are confident in what you say. If you hit a snag and find yourself in a compromising situation, make sure you handle the situation confidently – even while saying that you don’t know the answer to the question.
Confidence implies competence. Employers always look for competent people to fill their posts.
