Custom Designing Company Logos For Construction Companies

The construction sector is growing more and more competitive. More prominent firms handle the major development jobs while smaller and newer companies must demonstrate their quality with several subcontracts before moving on to major projects.

My design firm has just been awarded an assignment to develop a new logo samples for a local construction business. To start things off, the art director and I visited our client’s office for a brief interview session to garner more information about the company.

Like many other organizations we have surveyed, most companies are aware they need a new outlook to remain competitive but are not really sure what they want. That is where we come in.

Before beginning work on the logo design, we ordinarily inquire about the company history, its turnover, its goals, its specialty, its target market and the reason it wants a new logo examples; just to get a better feel of things.

We ascertained that they are a relatively young organization, 9 years in the business with 4 large subcontract projects and many smaller ones under their belts, each one bigger than the last. They are now seeking to adopt a blue ocean strategy and venture into eco-friendly medium cost suburban development – a niche with a low number of competitors – and therefore seizing the opportunity to build a reputation for themselves as one of the earliest companies to address this niche.

From the dialogue, we found out that they have the needed resources to engage medium scale development projects. Their chosen niche also makes it easier to differentiate them from other developers.

At our studio, we had our normal brainstorming session and and decided on the conceptual direction. From there we assigned 4 designers to produce individual interpretations or construction logo design to turn those ideas to logo designs.

After a number of days, the logo concepts were ready for viewing. Some designs utilized stylized text while others used construction related graphics like levelers and trowels to get the point across. Though all four logo examples samples were unique in their own way, they all adhered to two main points.

Professionalism
Developers deal with big money projects. In order to be awarded such projects, they must always be seen as a professional and responsible organization with ideal business ethics. Therefore, the neat and clear designs reflected that appropriately.

Eco-Friendliness
This is the niche this firm is determined to penetrate. Naturally, the designs, either by color or graphics, corroborates the company’s dedication to the preservation of the environment.

Now it is up to our clients to decide on which of the four designs they prefer. Alternatively they could certainly make minor changes but as professional designers, we must make sure the design eventually keeps to the key points mentioned earlier.
