The FTC is Now Cracking Down Heavily On Perpetrators Of Fraud Who Victimize Jobless U.S. Citizens

Advertisement for work from home opportunities can be anywhere from your mailbox to your inbox, in the paper or on a web search. Promoters customarily publicize that for a little fee, theyll tell you the easy way to earn big cash working from home or guarantee to find you a job. They may say you will earn money or even claim that it’s possible for you to earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars every week.

But when it comes to offers promising fast and easy earnings from home, be doubtful and do your due diligence.

The advertisements may sound appealing, particularly if youare trying to find a home based business, home job, or even a regular job. But according to the Federal Trade Commission, the nations customer protection agency, advertisements like these donot tell the entire story namely, that the promoters are not actually providing a job or legitimate opportunity.

The Federal Trade Commission announced today a new crackdown on scammers who are preying on unemployed citizens with job-placement and work at home scams, promoting empty promises that they can help folks get jobs in the government, as motion picture extras, or as secret shoppers or make money working from their homes stuffing envelopes or assembling ornaments.

Recently, a federal court jailed the marketer of a false envelope-stuffing scheme for violating a court order that required him to cease his illegal practices.

The suspect focused Spanish-speaking consumers throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, deceiving them to believe they could earn substantial earnings working at home stuffing envelopes in exchange for a $37 fee. The only item clients received was a flyer telling them to place their own deceptive advertisements to sell the same flyer to other buyers. The suspect kept up the scam notwithstanding a December 2008 court order that barred him from cheating consumers and required him to close the post office boxes he used for taking orders.
