As I write this, the United States is in the worst recession since the Great Depression with unemployment rates soaring and many people struggling to make ends meet. At times like this, it is even more important than every to have a college degree. The reason is simple. When there is a lot of competition for jobs, you need to have every advantage possible.
Let’s talk about some of the reasons you should get a college degree. There are many reasons, but here are a few of the more important ones.
As I mentioned in the introduction, having a college degree will help you compete for jobs. When the economy is bad and jobs are hard to come by, you need every advantage you can get. When the economy is good and it is easier to get a job, having a degree will help you get more money and if you find some easy scholarships, you won’t even have to pay very much to get your degree.
Going to college is a really good idea even if you aren’t going to pursue a traditional job. If you want to start your own business, you need to know a lot about how to run a successful business. You need to have accounting skills so you can keep on top of your income and expenses. You need to know how to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. You need to know about how to invest and keep your profits. In short, you need the education so you can be successful as an entrepreneur.
Even if you just want to do something as simple as being a personal trainer, you really need to have some college education. You may not need to have the all the technical classes you need to be an engineer or business classes you need to run your own business, but you need to have training on nutrition, exercise, injury treatment, and a ton of other things so you can better serve your clients. It’s not as simple as just showing somebody how to do abdominal exercises.
There are some good resources out there that will help you pick the right college.
The cost of your education is the last thing to consider. There can be huge differences in the cost of colleges and none of them are cheap. Basically, your choices are expensive and really expensive. Make sure you check out all the scholarships and grants that are available to help you pay for school. There are also lots of options for student loans you may want to consider. There are also tons of other resources to help you get student free stuff so make sure you don’t leave any free money behind.
Hopefully this has a helped a little. Now go out and get an education!
