When hunting for a job it can often be a very competitive and often hard situation to be in. Below you will find some tips to standing out in the job market and getting hired in the job if your dreams. The first thing to remember is to relate your CV to the jobs vacancies and not present a general piece of information on yourself.
The Curriculum Vitae
The CV is the first, and at most times the most important part of applying for a job. There may be hundreds of applicants that an interviewer will have to sift through to find a few suitable candidates to interview and the CV is all they have to go off.
Approximately half of all employers interviewed in a recent study will decide whether or not to interview someone based on the work experience included in the CV. And something as small as the design and layout of your CV will influence a further 1/3 to reject or invite you to a face to face meeting.
1. Make Your CV Concise and Relevant
Do not write a really long CV. Most of the information you put on will not make a difference to your prospects. If an employer has to spend ages reading a CV they will reject it. respect the employers time and provide them with a succinct CV.
2. Always tailor your CV to the job.
You may have had previous experience that may not be related to the job you are applying for. You can write different CVs for different types of jobs. You need to present information that is appropriate for the particular job. If you list general jobs that have all been in different sectors the employer will think that you are not too bothered about which industry you get a job ib.
3. Write about your achievements
You can include experience and achievements that you have gained out of work whilst making them relevant to the position. Making the most of your experiences is good but do not big yourself up without backing any statements up. Do not list any weak points however as this will turn the interviewer off straight away
